He has dedicated most of his professional career to sports, working from 1998 in the fields of water polo, cycling, cross-country, biathlon and ski jumping events. At the beginning he faced candidacy for the Winter Olympic Games of three countries (Slovenia, Italy, and Austria) with the motto “Beyond borders” which was at that time too futuristic even for the International Olympic Committee.

In 2000 he joined the Organizing Committee Pokljuka for preparation and organization of the IBU World Championships Biathlon Pokljuka 2001. Biathlon became his main winter sport during the following years, and he served in the Organizing Committee Pokljuka for two decades. Between 2010 and 2020 also as the OC Secretary General of Biathlon World Cups and at Ski Association of Slovenia as Director of biathlon national teams in years 2014 and 2015.

In 2003 his passion for winter sports was reflected in the European Youth Olympic Festival which was at that time the biggest winter sport event organized in independent Republic of Slovenia (in Bled). From 2020 he has lead the Organizing Committee Planica. His first challenge there was to organize the FIS Ski Flying World Championships amid the Covid-19 pandemic. After the demanding but successful conclusion of the international ski jumping competitions in the 2020/21 winter season, most of his energy is directed toward the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Planica 2023 and accompanying events.
